Cambodia
Cambodia, one of the greatest cultural centres in Southeast Asia, is
the successor state at the mighty Khmer Empire which was centred at Angkor
at the height of its power and extraordinary creativity between the 11th
and 17th centuries. There is arguably no other historical site that matches
its grandeur and your first view of the Angkor Wat complex takes your
breath away. This charming land of gentle, friendly people is truly unforgettable.
The country’s capital, Phnom Penh, is renowned for its beauty, particularly
the area surrounding the Royal Palace where magnificent Khmer towers share
the boulevard with colourful French villas overlooking the banks of the
Tonle Sap river. Siem Reap, the staging point for visits to the famous
temples of Angkor, overlooks the Ton Le Sap lake. Cambodia described as
the ‘Dawn of the New Millennium’ opens its magic once again to tourism.

Our Thoughts
Cambodia blends a fascinating history combined with smiling people, warm
hospitality and culinary delights. There are numerous fascinating tours
around Siem Reap and it is essential to use only recommended tourist routes
with official guides. In addition, access to certain temples in Cambodia
often requires a photo pass, therefore it is advisable to bring 3 or 4
passport type photos to avoid inconvenience whilst on holiday. The tourist
infrastructure in Cambodia is not as developed as it is in other Far East
destinations. Hotels are generally of a lesser standard than other hotels
featured and transport may be subject to delay or change without prior
notice. As with many other places in the world, keep an eye out for pickpockets
and ask your tour guide for up to date advice on things to do and not
to do whilst in Cambodia.
