DESTINATIONS

Fujairah is the United Arab Emirates’s most scenically attractive Emirate with its picturesque fortresses and stunning setting against a majestic mountain backdrop that leads down to the sea. Located in the south-eastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, on the shores of the Arabian Sea, overlooking the Gulf of Oman, Fujairah is a low key destination. Boasting stunning scenery, a beautiful coastline, intriguing cultural traditions, a climate that is temperate for most of the year, some of the best snorkelling, diving and deep sea fishing anywhere in the region, all combine, making Fujairah an ideal holiday destination and is perfect for a relaxing beach stay and family fun. Tourist attractions abound and this Emirate has a variety of attractions including the Fujairah Fort, the Fujairah Museum and the chance to do an overnight four-wheel drive desert safari!
The east coast of the UAE was one of the last to feel the impact of development fuelled by the booming oil economy. As a result, many of the old ways have survived which makes Fujairah so charming. The main attraction of this Emirate is its expansive beaches and excellent diving possibilities. The warm waters of the Gulf of Oman offer a vibrant underwater world teeming with colourful fish and coral formations. If you do manage tear yourself away from the beach, head up through the winding roads into the Hajar mountains for spectacular vistas, small oasis villages and stunning deep canyon scenery. Ramadan is strictly observed for one month commencing either September 23rd or 24th 2006 (exact date to be announced). During this period Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, with no food, drink or cigarettes being allowed to pass their lips and some hotel restaurants are closed.
