DESTINATIONS

Sabah, home to the endearing and endangered Orang-utan and Malaysia’s second-largest state, is located in the northernmost part of the island of Borneo. Together with the state of Sarawak, it forms East Malaysia. Sabah’s main city is Kota Kinabalu, an excellent base for exploring the attractions of the world’s third-largest island. Borneo is home to the highest mountain between New Guinea and the Himalayas and the world’s largest cave chamber and flower. Borneo’s equatorial climate means there is no avoiding rain during some of your stay. Explore Kota Kinabalu National Park, home to 800 species of orchid and dominated by Mount Kinabalu. Set in the foothills of the mountain are the Poring Hot Springs - a canopied walkway through the treetops gives visitors a chance to see the rafflesia, the worlds largest flower.
A beautiful and intriguing destination, Borneo has everything to offer the adventurous traveller. When you have had your fill of culture and wildlife, just sit back and relax on a palm fringed beach, as the pace here is as slow as you want it to be.
From Kota Kinabalu airport to Shangri La’s Tanjung Aru Resort is about 15 minutes, Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria is about 35 minutes and to Nexus Resort Karambunai is about 45 minutes.
