Langkawi

Tucked into the northwest corner of peninsular Malaysia only 55 minutes flying time from Kuala Lumpur, lies the quiet rural island of Langkawi. There are in fact 99 islands that make up Langkawi of which only 3 are populated. The main island, Pulau Langkawi, is a recent discovery for tourism and blends unspoilt natural beauty with a palm fringed shoreline, lush rainforests and luxury hotels. Kuah, the duty free port and main town of the islands, is really just a large fishing village with a small selection of local shops and restaurants. You’ll find an intriguing history of fables and folklore as the islands are steeped in legend. Langkawi is a peaceful resort in a glorious tropical setting, truly a place to relax and unwind.

Our Thoughts

Langkawi is relatively un-commercialised and any entertainment is generally limited to the hotels. Monsoon conditions between July and November bring periods of heavy rainfall and unsettled seas, so watersports fans should plan accordingly. The main island is a picturesque resort offering an unspoilt blend of natural beauty, truly a place to unwind with limited sightseeing, but plenty of white sandy beaches and watersports are available for the active.

Transfers

From the airport to the hotels is approximately 20 to 40 minutes.
