Le Mauricia Hotel, known as one of the most popular family resorts in Mauritius, is located on the sun-drenched northern coast of the island, 47 miles and 90 minutes from the airport. The hotel is set in a cosmopolitan and relaxed atmosphere. Comfort and simplicity take centre stage and the architecture is a departure from the traditional Mediterranean style providing sweeping views of the bay. The resort is within walking distance of the lively village of Grand-Baie, one of Mauritius’ main tourist hubs, providing guests with a choice of restaurants, bars, discotheques and boutiques. Facilities include ‘Le Quais’, the hotel’s main restaurant, set amidst roofed terraces with extended wooden decks that run the length of the slate swimming pool. The décor, enhanced by white ceilings, is evocative of a marina wharf. The minimalist interiors of ‘Le Nautic’ restaurant will appeal to those looking for a more intimate atmosphere serving fresh fish and seafood. Each evening the hotel arranges themed-dinners and shows with folkloric dancers and music-bands. Other facilities at Le Mauricia include a Wellness Centre evoking a serene oasis with cabins resembling nomadic tents, cleverly designed around a shaded pool, kids club, tennis, water-skiing, windsurfing and snorkelling. Scuba diving, catamaran tours and deep sea fishing are available at an extra charge. All 237 Standard and Superior bedrooms face the bay with terrace or balcony, air-conditioning, TV, mini-bar, electronic safe, bathroom with shower, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. Superior rooms are as above but larger with bath/shower and small semi-private gardens.
