Known as the Jewel of the Sultanate of Oman and the Middle East, the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat has built a reputation as one of the finest hotels in the world and is situated approximately 30 minutes from Muscat airport. Due to reopen it’s doors in 2008, following an extensive refurbishment programme, the hotel is nestled on the coast surrounded by a dramatic mountain backdrop, a private white sand beach leading onto the crystal clear Gulf sea and is set in 200 acres of lush, green private gardens. Dining facilities are numerous including ‘VUE by Shannon Bennett’ which redefines the concept of fine dining offers European cuisine, ‘China Mood’ offers a selection of Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine, ‘Al Khiran Terrace’ boasts daily theme nights and an Italian á la carte menu and the ‘Beach Pavilion’ seafood restaurant. Other dining and bar facilities include the ‘Atrium Tea lounge’ known for their famous afternoon tea, the ‘Al Maha Piano Bar’ and ‘Seblat Al Bustan’, an authentic Omani Bedouin tented outdoor dining experience every Sunday and Wednesday (closed from May to September). Other facilities include an infinity swimming pool, four lagoon pools located in front of the Bustan Rooms, a separate children’s pool, floodlit tennis, a gym, wellness rooms offering massage treatments, a variety of retail shopping (14 outlets) and a hairdresser. Complimentary water sports facilities available from the beach include sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and snorkelling. Scuba diving is available through a PADI certified dive centre (at a charge). All 250 Al Bustan Garden View Rooms, Deluxe Seaview bedrooms and Executive Suites have air-conditioning, flat screen television, minibar, telephone, bath/shower and garden view. Deluxe rooms are as above, located on higher floors and designed with a touch of Arabic style with beautiful seaviews. Executive Suites are as above, larger and offer a separate sitting room with a mountain view.
