The day starts early with tea and coffee before setting off on the first morning game drive, returning at about 9am for breakfast. The remainder of the morning is at leisure. After lunch, take an afternoon game drive and when the day turns into night, powerful spotlights are used to track the nocturnal wildlife. Afterwards, return to your chosen lodge for dinner which is often taken communally in the boma (weather permitting) or restaurant. Optional activities such as walking safaris are usually available also.
Take light, casual clothing, avoiding white or bright colours. Light, long-sleeved tops, long trousers, high factor sun cream, a hat and sunglasses are essential to protect you from the sun which can be fierce. A jacket or sweater is needed for early morning and evening game drives, as it can be chilly. Don’t forget binoculars, a camera with a long lense and insect repellent.
