Located in the heart of Thornybush Game Reserve, Monwana Game Lodge is in ‘Big Five country’, namely elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo, where you can view these majestic animals as well as many other wonders of the African bush from the comfort of a 4 wheel drive game-viewing vehicle. Sharing common boundaries with the world famous Kruger National Park, Monwana is situated in 28,000 acres of pristine African bushveld on the seasonal Monwana river, the ecological backbone of the Thornybush Game Reserve, flowing briefly after heavy rains. This exclusive game lodge is run in a friendly, homely atmosphere, encouraging you to relax and savour the unique experience. Lodge facilities include a traditional open-air boma (restaurant), an indoor restaurant and bar, a swimming pool overlooking the waterhole and a curio shop. All 6 luxury bedrooms are air-conditioned with bath/shower and private deck or patio overlooking the waterhole or bushveld.

How to get there

Monwana Game Lodge is about 30 minutes drive from Eastgate (Hoedspruit) airport and just over 5 ½ hours drive from Johannesburg airport. Private transfers can be arranged from Eastgate airport to Monwana. 01 Jan to 31 Dec 2008. The return cost is approximately €53 per person.
