Experience Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) with this delightful stopover. This fascinating tour takes you to the heart of the city. Wander through the bustling markets and calming pagodas and visit the museums, infamous historical sites and the Mekong Delta.
DAY 1 - HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON)
On arrival at Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) you will be met and transferred by private air-conditioned vehicle to your chosen hotel. This evening enjoy a stroll along the streets of old Saigon, or District One of this sprawling metropolitan area, for a Vietnamese-style dinner. Overnight at your chosen hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). (D)
DAY 2 - HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON) & CU CHI TUNNELS
After an early bird breakfast, begin a morning city tour at the Reunification Palace, the Presidential Palace of former South Vietnam. Visit the environs of power during those years including an audio-visual presentation depicting the most important events of the period. Afterwards visit the Revolutionary Museum before passing Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh Market to the next stop at the History Museum. Next, visit the Palace of the Jade Emperor with its elaborate wood and paper-mache statues in the Buddhist and Taoist tradition. After lunch visit the famed Cu Chi Tunnels, 47 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. First built in late 1940’s during the war against the French and extended in the early 1960’s, the tunnels are a main attraction. Return to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and enjoy dinner and overnight at your chosen hotel. (B,L,D)
DAY 3 - HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON) / CAN THO
After breakfast, begin a journey west to the Mekong Delta for 2 days. Drive past My Tho about 45 miles south of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and cross the river by ferry from Vinh Long to Can Tho, the capital of the Mekong Delta. Sightseeing will include a visit to Munirangsyarm Pagoda. Continue on to visit the Cantonese Congregation Pagoda which occupies a splendid location facing the Can Tho River. The Central Market is the next stop where many local farmers and wholesalers arrive here by boat to buy and sell. This evening enjoy a Vietnamese-style dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at your chosen hotel in Can Tho. (B,D)
DAY 4 - CAN THO / HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON)
After breakfast, you will be transferred by car and then by boat the Cai Rang Floating Market, the biggest floating market in the delta with a bridge that serves as a great vantage point for photography. Cross the Hau Giang River by ferry between Can Tho and Vinh Long. From Vinh Long one can visit the islands in the river, which feature fruit orchards and vegetable gardens. Return to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) past My Tho, one of the poorest cities in the Delta. Enjoy dinner at one of Ho Chi Minh City’s (Saigon’s) popular restaurants, the ’Blue Ginger’. Overnight at your chosen hotel. (B,D)
DAY 5 - HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
